Some of you may remember from our recent blog ‘All we want for Christmas‘, that we were very excited to have reached the finals of the Skills for Care Accolades 2014/15, in the category of Best Provider of Learning & Development – goodness knows we went on about it enough!
Well, last week, we got the glad rags on and went to the very posh Park Plaza Victoria with all the other finalists for the gala event. We met some wonderful people (including the lovely Julie Hesmondhalgh, star of Corrie and Cucumber!), ate some delicious food – and drank a bit of bubbly!
And I’ll admit, on reading the event guide and seeing summaries of the other nominations, I really didn’t rate our chances of winning – Care Management Group and the Stroke Association have both been so creative in getting the voices of people with disabilities heard in their training, so just getting to the final 3 was amazing! But sometimes amazing things get better – the Smart Enterprise was announced as the winner!
I think it’s taken till now for that news to really start sinking in – we have just been awarded one of the most prestigious awards in social care! Incredible! So, in the manner of the Oscars, we’d like to take this opportunity to say a massive ‘Thank You’ to everyone that’s supported us over the last 4 years. Whether you’re a friend, relation, customer – or just someone that’s appreciated what we do – we couldn’t have done it without you!
We’d also like to congratulate all the winners and finalists at the Accolades – there are so many negative news stories about the state of social care, but reading about all those fantastic initiatives demonstrates that there are plenty of committed, talented people setting the standards. And of course, thanks to Skills for Care for continuing to develop and share good practice (and for a fab evening too!)
Laura and I are so proud of our wonderful team – Luke, Jen, Filiz, Tim, Ian, Marianne, Emma, Christy and Rosemary. They are the people who make our team what it is, and they are the reason for our success – we really can’t thank them enough.
You can see the full list of winners and finalists on the Skills for Care website. And just so we can relive our moment of glory – here it is!
