Supporting Adults with Learning Disabilities

Course Outline:

It is essential that staff who work with adults with learning disabilities are aware of national drivers and legislation and how they impact on services at a practical level.  This course provides an opportunity for participants to explore the national context, including personalisation and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.  Participants will also consider how to work effectively with family carers and will explore professional boundary issues.

Aim:

  • To increase participants’ knowledge of the legislative context of services for people with learning disabilities and how this may affect values and skills in the workplace
